Frequently Asked Questions

Which pan flute is best for a beginner?

A 12- or 15-pipe alto is a good place to start, since it is smaller, lighter and easier to hold.

The 8-pipe soprano is even more compact, but keep in mind that it is tuned in C major, unlike our other models, which are in G major.

What does G major tuning mean, and can I change the key?

Each pipe plays one note of the G major scale.

So if you want a different key, you can simply move the rubber corks inside the pipes with a wooden stick to fine-tune or retune your pan flute at any time.

What is the difference between alto, tenor and bass pan flutes?

It comes down to pitch and size: alto is the most common size, tenor plays deeper, and bass is the lowest and largest.

How much does a pan flute cost?

Depending on the size and number of pipes, our pan flutes cost between $59.97 and $229.97.

Is a case included?

Every Hora pan flute comes with a padded soft case with a zipper closure, so it’s ready to travel with you.

Do you ship to the USA, and are customs duties included?

We ship worldwide, and for U.S. orders, customs duties are calculated and added to the shipping cost at checkout, so there are no surprise fees on delivery.

Are pan flutes and panpipes the same thing?

“Pan flute”, “pan pipes” and “panpipes” all name the same instrument, so whichever term you use, you’re looking at the same instrument.

How do I care for my new pan flute?
