What Is a Mandola?

The mandola sits between a mandolin and an octave mandolin, one fifth below a standard mandolin. It is tuned C-G-D-A, giving it a warmer, deeper voice than a mandolin while staying brighter than an octave mandolin, and it is popular in Irish, Scottish and American old-time music.

Standard vs. EQ: Which Hora Mandola Should You Choose?

Both models share the same solid spruce top, solid flat maple back and 44.3 cm scale, so the choice comes down to whether you want a built-in pickup.
